Documented application

2025 GM 25OBDG04B diagnostic parameter tables; the cited monitor only. Vehicle, engine and calibration applicability must be confirmed separately.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

The P048E monitor evaluates the exhaust throttle's SENT position signal for an electrical value above 99% of the 5 V scale. This upper raw-signal limit should not be mistaken for a maximum allowable mechanical opening.

Two different feedback problems

A high received value is evaluated only when no SENT communication-loss fault is present. Loss of the communication path and an out-of-range signal therefore require different interpretations. A displayed angle without its validity state may not distinguish them.

The source also requires completion of cranking, relay voltage above 11 V and an enabled diagnostic system. Its filter is 480 failures among 600 samples on a 6.25 ms task, with Type A reporting after one trip.

What confirms recovery

An eligible monitored interval with healthy communication and raw feedback inside range addresses this code directly. Observing the valve move or seeing normal exhaust pressure supplies different evidence and cannot alone prove that the electrical feedback has recovered.

These thresholds belong to the documented SENT implementation, not every vehicle that can store P048E. The table does not state a universal connector pin voltage or identify whether the fault lies in sensing, connections or electronics. Apply the appropriate service procedure to locate the cause, and use suitable precautions when work requires access to hot exhaust components.
