P04C6: high lock-position feedback can represent an open circuit
The GM hybrid P04C6 strategy explicitly includes a short to battery or an open lock-position circuit.

Documented application
Document-level 2015 GM diagnostic table; per-code vehicle/engine/calibration applicability not established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P04C6 in the cited GM hybrid diagnostic table is the high branch for fuel-fill door lock-position feedback. The strategy explicitly allows a short-to-battery condition or an open circuit. A high reading therefore does not uniquely establish that the signal wire is touching battery power.
Do not equate high with locked
The threshold concerns an electrically invalid reported position. It is not simply the normal indication that the latch is locked. A visual check of the lock cannot replace evaluation of the feedback circuit.
This distinction is especially useful when a disconnected or intermittent connection produces a high reading. The summary identifies that possibility, but it does not locate the open or provide a connector pinout. The applicable vehicle circuit diagram is still necessary.
Related monitors depend on this signal
Lock, unlock and unexpected-state performance checks exclude P04C6 among their supporting circuit faults. Their silence while this high-input fault remains active may reflect inhibited evaluation rather than correct mechanical operation.
The published detection window counts repeated failures, and the calibration must enable the diagnostic. A brief valid value after reconnecting something is not equivalent to a completed successful monitor.
Document the lock-position data, connector condition found by the proper inspection and any accompanying low or invalid-range code. A complete repair verification should establish stable valid feedback and then allow the relevant performance checks to run, rather than stopping when memory has been cleared.
