Documented application

2025 GM 25OBDG03A ECM monitor at the cited physical PDF pages only. Vehicle, engine and calibration applicability is not established by the file-level application matrix.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P04DB indicates a crankcase-ventilation disconnection in the cited GM strategy. A pressure sensor in the described PCV hose measures both the average pressure drop associated with airflow and pressure pulses associated with piston movement. The controller combines these features to judge system behavior.

A steady pressure reading is incomplete

The monitor normalizes signal offset for airflow and pressure-noise information for engine speed, then evaluates their product against calibration limits. A plausible average pressure alone does not prove the required pulsation reaches the sensor. Conversely, noise without the expected pressure relationship is not a full pass.

The documented stability window includes 2,200–2,850 rpm and airflow from 30 to 60 grams per second. Stability must persist for one second before sampling and continue during a one-second data window. The underlying pressure sampling interval is 3.125 milliseconds.

Inspect the relationship, not just the label

Capture airflow, speed, pressure behavior and stability status. Rapid manifold-pressure changes can delay or prevent valid sampling, while related airflow, pressure and temperature faults inhibit the monitor. A code that does not immediately return during an unstable test may simply lack a qualifying window.

Use the vehicle-specific PCV routing and sensor procedure to determine why the pressure signature is wrong. The monitor supports a disconnection investigation but does not prove one particular hose is detached. Verification requires a completed pressure-offset-and-pulsation evaluation under stable conditions, not merely clearing P04DB.

Source and applicability

This explanation is limited to the 2025 GM 25OBDG03A monitor on page 310, page 311. Its thresholds are calibration examples, not universal specifications. Confirm the vehicle, engine and controller procedure before applying them.
