P051A: A digital crankcase-pressure sensor fault is not a PCV hose diagnosis
Understand Ford P051A SENT sensor monitoring and distinguish circuit status from crankcase ventilation hose-disconnect checks.

Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD operation summary, July 16 2024 revision; only the documented monitor variants. No individual model, engine or calibration fitment inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
Ford's turbocharged-engine PCV section uses P051A for the crankcase-pressure sensor A circuit in a SENT implementation. The source identifies recognized faulted signal patterns as the evidence. This is different from assuming that the measured crankcase pressure itself is simply too high.
Identify the sensor architecture
The same page describes analog sensors with separate low- and high-voltage codes. Those voltage thresholds do not apply automatically to a digital SENT sensor. Ford also lists U060E for communication loss and P051B for range/performance, so the complete code format and device status matter.
The electrical check is continuous and has a listed five-second monitoring duration. A plausible pressure value on a generic display does not establish that the digital sensor's diagnostic status is healthy.
Sensor validity precedes hose interpretation
The following PCV hose-disconnect monitor requires the crankcase-pressure sensing system to be healthy. A failed sensor check can therefore make a hose-performance conclusion unreliable or prevent that test from completing.
Preserve the sensor status, communication results and the exact monitor that completed. Do not infer a disconnected ventilation hose merely because P051A appears in the PCV chapter. The summary explains the separation between electrical sensing and ventilation performance, but does not provide a connector pinout or identify the failed component. Verification should demonstrate valid SENT behavior and then confirm that dependent PCV checks can operate normally.
Source and applicability
This explanation covers the cited Ford monitor variants, not every vehicle displaying this code. Match the engine, sensor architecture and calibration before applying numerical limits.
