P0549: A high EGT circuit reading has an explicit warm-up qualification
Learn why Ford gasoline P0549 cannot be assessed from a cold sensor voltage alone.

Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD summary, July 16, 2024 revision; only the described monitor and architecture. Model, engine and calibration fitment are not inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0549 identifies the high electrical-circuit condition for exhaust-temperature sensor 1 on bank 2. In Ford’s example, the sensor signal must exceed 4.961 V for five seconds after the sensor is considered warm. This is different from simply observing a high value during an arbitrary cold-state measurement.
Warm-up and supply define the test opportunity
The high-voltage check requires inferred outlet-gas temperature above 300°C for five seconds, together with an 11–16 V battery window. The electrical monitor is described as continuous after warm-up. A cold key-on reading cannot automatically be judged as the same eligible condition.
The group table also lists 30 seconds to register a malfunction. The five-second high-voltage persistence criterion should therefore not be represented as a universal end-to-end reporting or lamp delay.
Separate voltage from actual exhaust temperature
Retain the complete P0547_17 representation, bank identity, inferred warm-up state and signal history. A high electrical classification does not by itself prove that exhaust temperature is excessive; the separate rationality monitor evaluates the temperature’s plausibility.
The summary does not identify whether the high reading originates in wiring, the sensor or the receiving electronics. Vehicle-specific signal and circuit information is needed to localize it. It cannot support a universal connector test or sensor replacement solely from the high-circuit label.
