The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P057F is cataloged as battery A state-of-charge performance. In this Mazda SKYACTIV-G application, the factory description is battery deterioration, judged from accumulated battery charge and discharge activity.

Why battery history matters

The PCM receives charge/discharge information from the current sensor. When its accumulated value exceeds Mazda's specification, it records the fault and inhibits i-stop engine stopping. The page does not publish that numerical limit, so a generic charge percentage is not a substitute for the documented test. Mazda lists possible starting failure or stalling as voltage falls.

A recently installed battery changes the diagnostic question. The procedure uses BATT_DAY and the replacement history to establish whether the battery initial setting was omitted. If that setting was missed, completing it is an explicit diagnostic branch; the code does not automatically condemn the replacement battery.

Checks before a replacement decision

The factory flow first addresses current-sensor DTC P058A and relevant CAN or LIN faults that could make battery information unreliable. Only after those checks and the initialization review does its battery replacement branch apply. Replacement includes the battery-condition/i-stop initial setting, not simply exchanging hardware.

Verification involves restarting and checking whether the same pending code returns. A recurrence calls for reviewing initialization and communication before the manual's final controller decision. Retain the battery service record with the diagnostic evidence.
