Documented application

Documented monitors in gm-2025-03a, gm-2025-04b, model year 2025. These are module/calibration examples; vehicle, engine and transmission applicability must be confirmed independently.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P058F flags battery-monitor temperature below the documented lower boundary. Both cited examples use less than minus 43 degrees Celsius; the BCM table identifies the value as raw ASIC temperature from the intelligent battery sensor.

Separate sensor report from ambient conditions

The BCM monitor is enabled only within a stated outside-air range above minus 30 and below 50 degrees Celsius. A sensor report below minus 43 during that enabled context is therefore a different observation from simply operating a vehicle in exceptionally cold weather. The ECM example has its own, narrower ambient enabling range.

The BCM strategy description contains an isolated reference to temperature being above a threshold, but the code label, malfunction criteria and negative threshold consistently specify a low-temperature failure. The explanation follows those consistent entries.

Historical versus current low readings

The IBS can retain up to twenty-four temperatures sampled every thirty minutes while LIN sleeps. A historical check runs on wakeup, while the continuous check repeatedly assesses current data. A normal live temperature after waking the vehicle does not by itself invalidate the recorded event.

The continuous BCM decision uses four seconds in five; the ECM example uses four failed samples in five. Assess the actual raw-temperature channel, result type and communication status together. The monitor does not establish an open circuit, a specific failed part, or a battery replacement requirement. Verification must show the applicable enabled temperature diagnostic passing.
