P05A7: Grille shutter A reports its internal supply below the allowed level
Ford’s 3.0L P05A7 monitor checks actuator-ASIC supply voltage after start, independently of the vehicle’s battery window.

Documented application
Ford 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary, 3.0L-only active grille shutter section, physical pages 109 and 111. Threshold is internal ASIC supply, not universal battery voltage.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P05A7 is active grille shutter A supply voltage circuit low. Ford’s 3.0L-only grille-shutter section defines the failure as internal supply voltage measured by the actuator ASIC below 6.9 V. That internal quantity is distinct from the battery voltage used to enable monitoring.
Battery and internal supply have different roles
The listed entry conditions include key-on, at least five seconds since engine start, and battery voltage between 9 and 16.26 V. The check is continuous and its detection duration is described as instantaneous.
Consequently, a battery reading within its allowed range does not by itself demonstrate that the actuator’s internal supply is above 6.9 V. Conversely, the internal threshold should not be presented as an acceptable vehicle-battery minimum.
Identify the affected actuator before diagnosing the source
P05B6 is the corresponding shutter-B supply code. P05A7 selects shutter A, but the document does not establish a universal physical actuator location or connector arrangement.
Useful verification connects the reported internal-supply fault to the correct module and operating interval, while retaining related communication or movement faults. The source does not decide whether external supply wiring or internal electronics caused the low measurement. It also provides no safe internal probing procedure. Follow the vehicle’s service information to isolate the supply path rather than replacing a shutter solely from the low-voltage title.
