P05E0: GM brake-pedal channels disagree
P05E0 compares two brake-pedal travel signals and also evaluates their released-pedal zero position.

Documented application
GM 2018 18OBDG02 Hybrid Diagnostics, BSC2 brake-system monitor table; document-level example only, vehicle/calibration fitment not established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
GM's cited BSC2 table defines P05E0 as brake-pedal position sensor A/B correlation. The pedal-travel sensor supplies two separately conditioned signals. The monitor compares them, rather than relying solely on either channel's individual electrical range.
Agreement depends on pedal travel
The source gives different permitted channel differences at high travel and elsewhere. Its threshold is therefore not one universal discrepancy at every pedal position. A pair of plausible individual readings can still fail correlation when their difference exceeds the applicable allowance.
A separate row under the same code evaluates the average of the two signals when the pedal is released. This distinguishes disagreement between channels from a shared offset of their zero position. The printed zero-range numeric presentation is ambiguous, so this explanation does not reproduce it as a calibration instruction.
A released-pedal check differs from moving the pedal
The table's pass instruction specifies a released pedal, a waiting interval and approximately room-temperature brake system/fluid conditions. Simply moving the pedal and seeing both channels change is therefore incomplete verification of the zero-position assessment.
This is a source-scoped monitor explanation, not authorization to adjust a brake sensor or pedal linkage without the correct procedure. Qualified diagnosis should compare the two channels, their reference position and related faults for the actual vehicle. After correction, confirm the applicable correlation and zero-position checks. A cleared fault alone cannot demonstrate that both independent signals accurately represent pedal travel.
