P0605: A TCM flash-memory read error is different from a checksum complaint
P0605 in the cited transmission controller records an uncorrectable flash-memory read error while OTA programming is inactive.

Documented application
2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part 2, specific documented monitor only. Vehicle, engine and calibration applicability require confirmation; application-matrix filename join is unresolved.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0605 is broadly described as an internal control-module memory error. In the transmission-control section of this GM document, the specific condition is an uncorrectable read error in flash program memory. Identifying the reporting module is therefore the first useful distinction.
The documented memory failure
The TCM row requires the flash-memory read-error status to be true and uses at least one fail count, with a type-A classification. It also requires the over-the-air programming-state flag to be inactive.
This is not the same description as a program or calibration checksum failure listed elsewhere in the table. Both concern controller memory, but they identify different diagnostic results and should not be merged into a generic “needs reprogramming” conclusion.
Preserve the exact module and state
Record that the TCM reported the fault, its full manufacturer description and whether programming or recovery activity was in progress. An engine-controller code with the same generic number may use a different strategy; this article covers only the cited TCM implementation.
The summary does not tell the reader whether the cause is a transient condition, corrupted content or hardware, and it does not establish that replacement is necessary. Follow the vehicle’s internal-module diagnostic and programming procedure before choosing an action. A one-fail-count criterion is a detection rule, not evidence that any attempted flash operation or control-unit swap will correct the underlying problem.
Source and applicability
This explanation covers the cited GM monitor, not every vehicle carrying this code. The application-matrix filename does not resolve cleanly to this file, so no model or engine fitment is assigned. GM diagnostic table, PDF page 903.
