P062A: Lift-pump feedback leaves its narrow duty-cycle window
Ford diesel P062A checks a fuel-pump feedback duty cycle rather than directly measuring pump output pressure.

Documented application
Ford 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary, revised August 25, 2023; these are documented monitor examples, not confirmed fitment or universal thresholds for every vehicle carrying this generic code.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P062A is fuel-pump A control circuit range/performance. In Ford’s diesel monitor, the specific evidence is feedback duty cycle from the lift pump outside 78–82%. That narrow band is a diagnostic signal expectation, not a published requirement that every pump operate at approximately 80% power.
Feedback and command must not be mixed
Ford lists a continuous check with a typical 0.5-second duration. On the same page, U0109 uses command-duty-cycle boundaries, and P064A evaluates monitoring-signal period or an implausible command. These are distinct signal tests even though their code titles all mention the fuel-pump control system.
A diagnostic display labeled “pump duty cycle” is therefore not automatically the quantity used by P062A. Determine whether it represents commanded operation, returned feedback, or another calculated value before comparing it with the 78–82% band.
What a meaningful follow-up establishes
First identify the pump-control architecture fitted to the vehicle. Ford describes both direct PCM and separate-module arrangements in this summary, so a generic circuit assumption is insufficient. Then confirm that the available feedback evidence corresponds to the monitored signal.
A successful pressure reading does not prove that the feedback encoding is valid, just as incorrect feedback alone does not locate a hydraulic restriction. The summary does not prescribe a motor, relay, or module replacement. Its useful contribution is to direct the investigation toward the meaning and validity of the feedback signal before a delivery-performance conclusion is made.
Source and applicability
This explanation follows Ford’s 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary. Match the vehicle’s engine and calibration before applying these monitor values; a generic code alone does not establish fitment. Ford PDF, page 14.
