The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P063B generally identifies generator voltage-sense circuit range/performance. On the documented Mazda M Hybrid system, a PCM entry can summarize a fault originally stored inside the integrated starter generator, or ISG.
Read the originating module
The PCM page covers internal voltage-sensor characteristic, low-input and high-input faults. It records P063B when the ISG reports P063B, P063C or P063D. Consequently, P063B in the PCM alone does not tell a technician whether the original ISG event was a plausibility failure or a signal at an electrical limit.
Mazda's next diagnostic step is to retrieve the ISG's own DTCs and follow the applicable ISG procedure. That is a more informative distinction than treating the PCM code as proof of a conventional alternator wiring defect. The page provides no external voltage threshold for this summary monitor.
History and operational effects
The specified responses inhibit normal generation control, i-stop, regenerative braking, motor assistance and non-generation control. Several unavailable hybrid functions can therefore accompany one originating voltage-sense problem.
The manual also distinguishes history from a current ISG fault: a PCM record without a corresponding ISG record can represent a past malfunction. Preserve both modules' evidence before clearing it. Confirmation includes the specified key-on, engine-off self-test and a recurrence check. Internal generator and hybrid electrical work should follow the qualified workshop procedure; this summary code supplies no basis for opening or bypassing the unit.
