P0677: Cylinder7 glow-plug open monitoring requires an active heating command
Understand Ford P0677’s current-based evidence and why an inactive glow plug cannot be assessed using the heating-mode threshold.

Documented application
Ford 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary, August 25, 2023 revision; only the described monitor examples. Confirm the engine and calibration before applying values.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0677 identifies the cylinder 7 glow-plug circuit/open classification in Ford’s diesel summary. The source explicitly limits this entry to its V8 diesel application. The code’s cylinder designation must therefore not be used to infer a physical installation on another engine architecture.
Heating mode is an essential condition
The open-load check operates while the glow plugs are in heating mode and lists approximately one second to register a malfunction. The documented individual glow-plug current threshold is below 1 A. A low current reading while the plug is not commanded to heat does not reproduce that eligible test.
The same threshold paragraph also mentions a lower current value for reductant-heater circuits. That heater value is not the glow-plug criterion and should not be substituted merely because both systems share a control module context.
Preserve the channel and command evidence
Record the cylinder 7 channel, heating command, reported current condition and relevant module or supply faults. An electrical-open classification does not automatically prove that the glow plug element itself is the defective part.
The summary gives no universal resistance specification or connector location for P0677. Verification needs the correct V8 wiring and glow-control procedure to distinguish the plug, its circuit and the driving electronics. Directly applying power or borrowing a test from a different glow-plug technology would not be supported by this monitor description.
