Documented application
Documented monitors in gm-2025-03a, model year 2025. These are module/calibration examples; vehicle, engine and transmission applicability must be confirmed independently.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0711 is transmission-fluid temperature sensor performance. The cited TCM strategy covers inadequate warmup, unrealistic intermittent changes and a signal stuck within its valid range. The displayed page details the warmup path.
A valid electrical value can still fail
The warmup criterion is raw fluid temperature below 15 degrees Celsius after the calibrated warmup time has elapsed. The elapsed-time threshold is not a universal number in the displayed row. A low temperature immediately after a cold start is therefore not equivalent to this completed warmup failure.
The test excludes active P0712 and P0713 electrical faults. That separation matters: an electrically out-of-range sensor is handled differently from a plausible signal whose behavior over time is wrong.
The operating history must qualify
The shown warmup prerequisites include accelerator position above five percent, engine torque above 50 Nm, engine speed above 500 rpm and vehicle speed above 10 km/h, plus valid temperature and supply conditions. An extended stationary idle may not satisfy this particular branch merely because time has passed.
Record the temperature trace and qualifying operating history rather than relying on one current temperature. For intermittent or stuck-signal branches, consult the complete applicable procedure; this page does not supply all their thresholds. Verification should establish that the relevant performance test passes after sufficient qualifying operation. The code does not by itself establish fluid level, specify a fluid service, or prove mechanical transmission overheating.
