P082E: Low duty on the Y channel must not be confused with the X channel

Documented application
2025 GM 03B documented monitor only. Vehicle, engine and controller calibration applicability must be established separately; no model fitment is inferred from the file.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P082E concerns the Y-axis output of gear-lever position sensor 1. GM's cited monitor classifies that signal as low when its measured duty cycle falls below five percent. The axis designation matters: a healthy X-channel trace does not verify the Y-channel input named by this code.
The monitor evaluates an electrical percentage
The controller waits until it has been awake for at least 0.05 second. It then counts failures on a 25-millisecond loop, with ten failing samples within twelve needed for the documented result. The row lists two-trip reporting separately from that sample count.
A low duty cycle does not establish a particular physical lever position or transmission range. The table contains no position conversion and no instruction to interpret the percentage as a direct connector voltage. Those mappings belong to the exact selector hardware and calibration.
Preserve the raw channel and its timing
Record sensor 1's Y duty sequence with controller wakeup timing and fault status. A transient during initialization may lie outside the stated evaluation opportunity, while a stable decoded gear display can conceal a raw channel that is repeatedly out of range.
Once the eligible low-duty behavior is established, the remaining work is to isolate its signal path using the correct service procedure. The source does not identify whether the sensor, wiring or controller caused the result, and it does not justify a transmission mechanical repair from P082E alone.
