P0A1F: Battery-controller performance faults concern processing rather than cell capacity
Learn how the GM P0A1F battery-controller monitor differs from battery resistance and voltage-sensor diagnostics.

Documented application
GM 2010 10OBDG10 Hybrid Diagnostics, only the cited controller and monitor. These are historical calibration examples; individual vehicle, engine and hardware applicability is not established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0A1F is the battery power-control module's microcontroller-performance fault in this GM document. The listed triggers concern execution and processing integrity, not a direct measurement of battery-cell capacity or resistance. A generic description such as “battery module performance” can obscure that distinction.
Several internal failure paths share the code
The table includes a watchdog timeout that resets the controller, excessive processor-stack use and processing timeouts. One path concerns a previous direct-memory-access transfer remaining incomplete; another concerns a scheduled processing interval overrunning its allotted time.
These checks operate with the battery controller in run mode. Different internal paths use different task frequencies, so one universal delay would not accurately describe the entire code.
Separate controller evidence from battery evidence
Record controller identification, the internal-status details the diagnostic tool exposes, supply-related faults and the timing of any resets. The adjacent RAM and ROM codes are separately named self-tests; they should not be substituted for P0A1F without their own records.
Likewise, battery replacement cannot be justified from this processor code alone. The source supplies no completed service decision tree and no instruction to reprogram or replace the controller. A trained high-voltage technician must use the applicable vehicle procedure to assess power, communication and controller diagnostics before selecting a repair. Clearing the record too early can remove the distinction between an isolated historical reset and a recurring monitored failure.
