P0B3E: Block-one circuit high is a signal-limit event, not a charging diagnosis
Understand the GM P0B3E high voltage-sense threshold and what additional evidence is needed before selecting a repair.

Documented application
GM 2010 10OBDG10 Hybrid Diagnostics, only the cited controller and monitor. These are historical calibration examples; individual vehicle, engine and hardware applicability is not established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0B3E is the high-limit check for block-one voltage sensing in the cited GM battery controller. Its example failure threshold is a block-one indication above 23V. This describes the monitored signal range; it does not by itself establish an overcharging fault or a damaged battery block.
The controller qualifies the signal over time
The row requires run mode, suitable low-voltage supply and no controller-performance fault. It records failure through 15 qualifying samples within 20 at 100ms intervals. That sample pattern should be preserved when interpreting an intermittent high reading.
P0B3C is a separate comparison between scaled block-one voltage and pack voltage. A block-one signal can be evaluated for a high limit and for plausibility through different monitor conditions, so the two results should retain separate meanings.
Capture the specific channel
Save block-one voltage, its status, the pack reference and accompanying block-sensing codes. Avoid substituting the highest-block display unless it also identifies which channel supplied that value. The source does not map “block one” to a universal physical module location.
The table offers no safe direct-voltage measurement procedure or replacement criterion. A qualified battery technician must use the applicable sensing diagram and service tests to distinguish an actual voltage condition from a measurement fault. High-voltage isolation and verification are mandatory for physical access, regardless of the scan-tool value.
