P0B5C: a high block 7 signal is not the same as pack overvoltage
GM P0B5C monitors a block 7 reading above 23 V in the documented calibration, separately from pack-voltage plausibility.

Documented application
GM 2010 10OBDG10 Hybrid Diagnostics, cited BPCM or hybrid-controller monitor only. Historical calibration values are not universal specifications; no per-code model, engine or hardware fitment has been established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
The GM entry for P0B5C concerns an excessively high block 7 voltage measurement. Although the generic description uses voltage-sense circuit G, the source identifies the relevant monitor by a numbered battery block. That numbering must be matched to the actual service information before identifying hardware.
What crosses the limit
The published trigger is block 7 above 23 V, confirmed by fifteen failures among twenty samples at a 100 ms sampling interval. Unlike P0B5B on the same page, the high branch does not require an adjacent block to be low. Applying the low-code's paired condition to this diagnosis would misread the table.
A high measurement can be investigated alongside other block and pack readings, but this monitor alone does not prove a physical pack-overvoltage event. It also differs from P0B5A, which compares scaled block values against pack voltage over a longer sample count.
Evidence before a repair decision
Retain the high reading, supply status and related codes. This test runs with the BPCM in RUN and its low-voltage supply within the stated 9–18 V window; an active P0A1F prevents the evaluation. Absence of a new P0B5C while those prerequisites are missing is not a successful retest.
The source supplies detection logic rather than component-level repair instructions. A technician must verify the sensing path and battery condition using the exact hybrid procedure, without treating 23 V as a universal threshold for other packs.
