P0B82: block 15 plausibility relies on neighboring and total-pack data

GM P0B82 checks block 15 and block 16 against pack voltage using a sustained rationality test.

Documented application

GM 2010 10OBDG10 Hybrid Diagnostics, cited BPCM or hybrid-controller monitor only. Historical calibration values are not universal specifications; no per-code model, engine or hardware fitment has been established.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P0B82 is block 15 voltage rationality in the cited GM table. The generic voltage-sense O performance description should not be treated as a simple low-voltage complaint. This calibration asks whether related measurements agree.

Compare the correct quantities

The controller multiplies block 15 voltage by twenty and compares that result with pack voltage. An absolute disagreement above 70 V is required. The corresponding block 16 calculation must also exceed 70 V. The two comparisons are linked, so a report about only one block cannot demonstrate the complete criterion.

GM specifies 160 failures within 170 samples at 100 ms intervals. The direct low/high rows use a different, shorter counting rule. Keeping those counters separate helps explain why the diagnostic records may not mature at the same time.

Confirm the test was enabled

The block 15 input must be valid, the BPCM must be in RUN, and sufficient time must have elapsed after contactor closure. Listed block and pack-voltage faults inhibit this check. Record those prerequisites when assessing a fault that disappears or fails to reproduce.

The calculation does not identify which measurement path is wrong and does not establish a particular loss of battery capacity. Compare the simultaneous block 15, block 16 and pack readings, then use the exact vehicle's hybrid diagnostic procedure. No direct probing or battery-disassembly method is supplied by this source.
