P0B8E: block 17 high sensing is not a battery replacement verdict
GM P0B8E requires repeated high block 17 measurements under defined BPCM operating conditions.

Documented application
GM 2010 10OBDG10 Hybrid Diagnostics, cited BPCM or hybrid-controller monitor only. Historical calibration values are not universal specifications; no per-code model, engine or hardware fitment has been established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0B8E is the high-range monitor for block 17 voltage sensing in this GM document. A generic scanner may describe circuit Q high. That wording identifies the reported measurement branch; it does not determine the physical cause or a required replacement part.
The range test is explicit
The block 17 reading must exceed 23 V. The controller confirms fifteen failures out of twenty samples, using 100 ms sampling. The threshold and counter are historical calibration details, not universal battery specifications.
This branch differs from the nearby performance monitor, which uses block 18 and pack voltage in a longer rationality calculation. It also differs from the low branch's paired low readings. Preserve those distinctions if several related codes appear together.
Verify operation before declaring success
RUN mode, a 9–18 V controller supply and inactive P0A1F are prerequisites. They determine whether the controller can evaluate the high reading. A scan taken without those prerequisites cannot show that the monitor now passes merely because no new code is present.
A useful repair record includes the block 17 trace and relevant companion faults, followed by vehicle-specific measurement-path checks. The table alone cannot distinguish an actual high-voltage condition from inaccurate sensing. Physical access to the battery and any high-voltage testing require the applicable hybrid service procedure and properly trained personnel.
