P0BBB: Sense Z high needs a valid two-second observation
GM P0BBB evaluates the Z-channel upper-voltage boundary over a timed window, with explicit sensing-system exclusions.

Documented application
15OBDG01 Hybrid Diagnostics, cited controller and monitor only. Historical calibration limits are not universal specifications; per-code vehicle, engine and hardware applicability must be verified.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
For P0BBB, the cited GM controller uses a Z-channel cell-voltage report at or above 4.8 volts. The monitor records an upper-limit condition in the measurement system. It is not independent proof that the battery itself has reached an unsafe physical voltage, nor is it a diagnosis of a specific failed part.
Pair the boundary with its timing
The documented qualification is 1.4 seconds within a two-second observation window. Keep the duration and operating context with the voltage data. A lone sample and a qualified event should not be described as equivalent evidence.
Diagnostic enable and enabled operating-state communication are required. Specified open-sense-line, sensing-module communication, balancing and internal-performance faults must be absent. The secondary protection self-test cannot be running.
Avoid a false recovery conclusion
If the controller is prevented from evaluating these prerequisites, no new P0BBB result does not demonstrate a repaired Z channel. A meaningful verification needs a valid monitoring opportunity, along with the applicable vehicle's service checks.
The exact battery architecture determines how Z maps to physical hardware. This historical table does not supply a universal cell location or a pack replacement rule. A trained high-voltage technician should verify the reported measurement and its supporting electronics before attributing the event to actual battery behavior or selecting corrective work.
