P0BEA: motor A phase V performance is an offset check with a label caveat

GM P0BEA monitors phase V current offset with the power stage open; a copied strategy label in the source needs care.

Documented application

GM 2010 10OBDG10 Hybrid Diagnostics, cited BPCM or hybrid-controller monitor only. Historical calibration values are not universal specifications; no per-code model, engine or hardware fitment has been established.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P0BEA is motor A phase V current-sensor range/performance in generic terminology. The GM row identifies its actual test as phase V offset current outside the allowed range. Both the component heading and the measured quantity identify phase V.

Evaluate the offset under the specified state

The documented threshold is phase V offset greater than 30 A. The controller must be awake with the power stage OPEN, and the phase V low/high codes P0BEB and P0BEC must be inactive. GM lists 100 counts at a 2.08 ms rate for the offset check.

Those conditions distinguish this test from the direct low/high range checks and from running motor overcurrent protection. Preserve the offset value and controller state before deciding which diagnosis the evidence supports.

Do not silently rewrite the source

The strategy-description sentence calls the offset U-phase even though the row heading and malfunction quantity say V-phase. This article follows the explicitly labelled phase V quantity while retaining that inconsistency for source review. Exact channel mapping must be confirmed in the applicable vehicle documentation.

The table does not prescribe a current-sensor replacement or a manual offset adjustment. OPEN is not a workshop isolation certificate, and its current threshold must not be recreated by direct injection. Physical inverter diagnosis and verification require trained hybrid-service personnel using the correct high-voltage procedure.
