P0C13: motor A phase W overheating is judged from a validated sensor channel
GM P0C13 uses PIM Temp 1 with an inactive performance fault before evaluating the inverter thermal condition.

Documented application
GM 2010 10OBDG10 Hybrid Diagnostics, cited BPCM or hybrid-controller monitor only. Historical calibration values are not universal specifications; no per-code model, engine or hardware fitment has been established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
GM describes P0C13 as motor A inverter phase W overtemperature. The monitored quantity in this row is PIM Temp 1. That internal signal assignment should be matched to the vehicle documentation; a generic code title does not provide a physical sensor location.
Establish that the temperature is usable
The table requires the PIM temperature to be in range and P0BD2 inactive. This is a thermal test based on a credible signal, rather than the circuit-low condition that can produce an implausibly hot calculated value. Record companion temperature faults when interpreting the event.
The initial fault boundary is above 88°C, with a lower 85°C reset boundary. GM applies 500 qualifying counts among 650 at a 10.4 ms rate. These separate boundaries and repeated counts explain why one later cooled reading does not reconstruct the original event.
Diagnose beyond the stored number
The monitor summary does not identify the cooling-system cause or require replacing the inverter. The technician needs the temperature history and the actual vehicle's service procedure to determine what produced the qualified thermal condition.
Verification should demonstrate credible sensor behavior and normal thermal operation under an eligible test, rather than simply erased codes. Physical work around the inverter requires the prescribed high-voltage precautions and trained personnel. The published temperatures are calibration criteria, not a safe limit for deliberate overheating tests.
