P0C44: Inlet-temperature circuit low can produce a hot converted reading

The cited P0C44 monitor pairs a low ADC count with a high battery-coolant inlet-temperature report and timed failure qualification.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P0C44 is the battery-pack coolant inlet-temperature low-circuit diagnostic in GM's cited battery controller. Its explicit threshold pairs an inlet report of at least 87.9°C with an ADC count at or below 130. “Circuit low” should therefore not be interpreted as “coolant is too cold.”

Evaluate the signal before the temperature conclusion

The converted temperature comes from the sensing circuit. An extreme hot report with this code does not independently prove actual coolant temperature. The applicable service procedure must establish whether the electrical measurement is credible before a thermal fault is assigned.

The failure occupies 1.75 seconds of a 2.5-second window, evaluated every 250 milliseconds. Its pass condition returns below 87.9°C with ADC count above 130 for 2.5 seconds. A single normal sample does not cover the full recovery requirement.

Match the enabling state

The shared continuation requires diagnostic enable, enabled operating-state communication and sensing-controller voltage of at least 9 volts. Preserve those conditions alongside the inlet reading when judging a repeat assessment.

The strategy sentence refers to the sensor falling below a threshold, while the explicit converted-temperature comparison is high; this wording issue remains flagged. The source does not provide a universal connector position or mandate sensor replacement. Work around the battery cooling system and high-voltage components requires the precise vehicle procedure and an appropriately trained technician.
