P0C82: Sensor H must agree with other module-group temperatures

P0C82 is a relative battery-temperature comparison for sensor H, with an absolute-deviation threshold and repeated-sample qualification.

Documented application

15OBDG01 Hybrid Diagnostics, cited controller and monitor only. Historical calibration limits are not universal specifications; per-code vehicle, engine and hardware applicability must be verified.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P0C82 is the battery-temperature sensor H range/performance check in the cited GM table. Its reference is the average temperature of the other module groups. The code therefore concerns disagreement between reports rather than a universal definition of a hot battery.

Retain the direction of the difference

The absolute deviation must exceed 20°C. Either a high or low H reading can cross that boundary. The diagnostic record should preserve H and the comparison temperatures, rather than simplify the result to an overheating claim.

The row uses 50 failing samples out of 67, evaluated at 100-millisecond intervals. A single unusual value does not establish the controller's complete qualification. The repeated pattern is relevant when considering an intermittent event or a changing thermal condition.

Confirm that the comparison is available

The temperature-rationality fault bundle must be false. Companion faults that affect that prerequisite belong in the evidence for both the original event and a retest. If the comparison is inhibited, no immediate returning P0C82 is not a completed pass.

The table does not decide whether H's difference reflects real temperature distribution or a sensing/reporting issue. That distinction requires the battery-specific service procedure and hardware mapping. No universal physical sensor address or replacement module is established by the letter H. A qualified high-voltage technician should perform any physical investigation while retaining the original comparative temperature evidence.
