P0D43: low-voltage charger output disagrees with vehicle references

The GM P0D43 plausibility test changes its voltage comparisons with Run/Crank state and excludes specified reference and sensor circuit faults.

Documented application

GM 2015 15OBDG01 Hybrid Diagnostics, only the cited EACCM monitor and calibration. Per-code vehicle and engine applicability has not been established; these historical thresholds are not universal service specifications.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P0D43 is a rationality check of the charger's nominal 14 V output-voltage measurement. The table compares the charger report with other vehicle voltage information. That is more specific than simply deciding whether the auxiliary battery is charged.

Run/Crank selects the comparison

With Run/Crank high, the documented failure requires the charger output-voltage report to differ from both the Run/Crank voltage and the HVEMB-enable voltage by at least 6 V. With Run/Crank low, the specified comparison uses the HVEMB-enable voltage alone.

The failure must be present for four seconds in a five-second window. The low-voltage secondary controller must be awake. GM also excludes its specified reference-voltage faults and the P0D44/P0D45 voltage-sensor range faults, so those companion records affect whether this comparison is meaningful.

Investigate disagreement before replacing hardware

Keep the control-state information with the compared voltages. A technician who records only the charger reading loses the information needed to identify which branch was active. Likewise, a stored circuit-range fault should not be ignored while interpreting a rationality result that depends on a valid sensor signal.

The document does not identify which reference is inaccurate when the values disagree. It gives neither an auxiliary-battery replacement rule nor a universal output setting. Use the matching vehicle wiring and charger diagnostics to establish that. These are internal control comparisons in a historical calibration, not instructions for live probing of the charger or its high-voltage supply.
