Documented application

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

Mazda identifies P0DF8:00 as low input from the ISG's internal W-phase FET temperature sensor. This corresponds to generic generator-inverter temperature sensor C circuit low. The recognition condition is voltage at or below 1.44 V continuously for half a second.

A signal fault can disable useful hybrid functions

The procedure's shared fail-safe inhibits ISG regeneration, motor assistance, and i-stop and stops power support from the M Hybrid battery. The vehicle's electrical loads then depend on the 12 V battery, which Mazda warns can become depleted if operation continues.

Those consequences do not establish a separate battery defect. They are controller responses to the internal sensor fault family and must be interpreted as such.

Verify recurrence before assigning hardware

Mazda preserves snapshot data, checks whether the fault is current, and repeats the inspection after ignition cycling and at least ten seconds on. A past entry is evaluated by reproducing the captured operating conditions. The procedure includes CAN diagnosis and acknowledges possible communication noise before its recurring-fault ISG replacement outcome.

W-phase identifies the affected channel, but the source does not provide a W-phase-specific external wiring test. Both wiring and connector diagrams are marked not applicable. The voltage threshold likewise has no published conversion to degrees, so it cannot be used to declare a particular generator temperature.

Verification should follow the common ISG procedure, confirm the low-input condition does not recur, and assess any other DTCs. Internal disassembly or improvised probing is not supported by this diagnostic page.
