Documented application

FCA bulletin 08-283-26, July 2026, superseding 08-333-25: North American 2025 Ram 1500 DT with 3.6 L ERG eTorque engine.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

A low battery can be a symptom of control behavior

The bulletin associates P0E55-00, an intermittent or erratic DC/DC-converter current-sensor signal, with a 12-volt battery that fails to charge properly. Some vehicles remain low after driving or need recovery because charging does not maintain the battery. This makes the battery condition and charging behavior relevant together; a new battery alone does not establish that the underlying cause has been corrected.

The documented cause is BPCM software

For this narrowly specified application, FCA identifies battery-pack-controller software and prescribes the corresponding update. That is different from proving the current sensor or DC/DC hardware needs replacement. Before selecting that path, technicians must check related systems and address faults outside the bulletin. The July 2026 revision supersedes the earlier 2025 bulletin and retains this P0E55 charging case while adding other code and symptom coverage.

Preparation is part of the procedure

The repair includes an ignition-off interval to allow the 48-volt contactor to open before programming, as well as supported 12-volt power. These are professional procedure requirements, not an owner reset that diagnoses the converter. Retain the original code report, battery and charging findings, and final BPCM software identification. After the proper repair, verify that the original charging complaint has resolved. The bulletin provides no universal current-sensor voltage or battery-capacity threshold and does not establish the same cause on 5.7 L trucks or other model years.
