Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD operation summary, July 16 2024 revision; only the documented monitor variants. No individual model, engine or calibration fitment inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
Ford describes P2066 as a noisy fuel level sensor B circuit. The controller evaluates abrupt changes between samples, rather than only whether the displayed level is plausible at one moment.
The rate and repetition of changes matter
The source uses changes greater than 40 percent between samples, with more than 100 occurrences and sampling every 0.100 seconds. A slowly updated dashboard gauge can hide this underlying signal behavior, so a stable-looking gauge does not by itself contradict the stored result.
This is distinct from the separate low/high electrical checks and the stuck-level monitor. The latter compares calculated fuel consumption with the change in indicated level over a much longer period. P2066 should not be diagnosed by borrowing that consumption-based criterion.
Retain sensor B identity
The document lists sensor A and B categories separately. The code does not establish a universal tank layout or sender location, so confirm the vehicle's fuel-level architecture before selecting a component.
Useful verification examines whether the B input continues to produce the repeated abrupt changes while the monitor runs. The summary does not identify whether the cause is the sender, wiring, connection or another part of the input path. It also does not provide a tank-access procedure. A repair decision requires the appropriate circuit information and evidence, rather than replacing a sender solely because the gauge once moved unexpectedly.
Source and applicability
This explanation covers the cited Ford monitor variants, not every vehicle displaying this code. Match the engine, sensor architecture and calibration before applying numerical limits.
