P208E: Reductant valve stuck closed is evaluated over injection strokes
Ford diesel P208E uses power-stage fault information across fifty injection strokes and is inhibited by active dosing-valve circuit faults.

Documented application
Ford 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary, revised August 25, 2023; these are documented monitor examples, not confirmed fitment or universal thresholds for every vehicle carrying this generic code.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P208E identifies reductant injection valve stuck closed, bank one unit one. Ford’s diesel summary evaluates the functional result once per injection stroke, with fifty injection strokes listed for fault detection. That is an event count, not a fifty-second timer.
Circuit faults can prevent the functional assessment
Active P2047, P2048, or P2049 inhibits this monitor. Ford also requires satisfactory reductant pump motor and pressure-sensor information. These prerequisites matter when deciding whether an absent new P208E represents a successful functional check or a monitor that could not run.
The source states that fault information comes directly from the power stage and supplies no calibration threshold for reconstructing the functional test independently. It would be unsupported to invent a pressure-drop value or injector resistance as the P208E setting criterion.
Verify activity, not just elapsed time
Useful evidence establishes whether valid dosing strokes occurred and whether the inhibiting electrical faults were resolved. Simply operating the vehicle for a set time without eligible dosing events does not demonstrate completion of the fifty-stroke assessment.
The stuck-closed label does not identify whether the physical cause lies in the valve, its control environment, or another condition. Ford’s summary provides the event-based monitor and its dependencies, not a cleaning or replacement procedure. Follow the applicable reductant-system service instructions before opening the system or selecting parts.
Source and applicability
This explanation follows Ford’s 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary. Match the vehicle’s engine and calibration before applying these monitor values; a generic code alone does not establish fitment. Ford PDF, page 84.
