P20FF: reductant-controller performance includes memory and calibration checks
P20FF can indicate reductant-controller RAM, software-calibration compatibility or nonvolatile-data integrity faults.

Documented application
Documented 2025 GM diagnostic parameter monitor in 25OBDG04B.pdf; model, engine and calibration applicability require vehicle-specific confirmation.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P20FF is a reductant control-module performance code, but the reviewed GM table contains several distinct internal checks under that label. It is not enough to translate the code directly into “replace the controller.” The underlying failure category matters.
Several checks share the code
One branch writes a checkerboard pattern to RAM and checks whether the expected contents can be read back. Another compares checksums and evaluates whether the operational calibration is compatible with the application software. Separate nonvolatile-memory branches detect interrupted writes or checksum inconsistencies in application, monitoring and heater-calibration data.
The heater-calibration branch also includes calibration not learned at end of line. This makes software/data state and physical memory behavior separate possibilities within the same code. A controller can report P20FF without the table proving a failed external DEF pump or sensor.
Initialization is the key opportunity
The source lists an active power mode, one check at initialization and no additional debounce. Reporting is Type A over one trip. Therefore, a verification that never exercises the relevant initialization event may not repeat the internal check responsible for the code.
Preserve the diagnostic record and any available internal fault detail, then determine which memory or compatibility branch applies through the correct service procedure. Do not infer that an arbitrary reflash or module replacement is the prescribed repair; neither is established by this summary. These facts are limited to the documented 2025 GM reductant-controller implementation, with vehicle and software applicability requiring confirmation.
