P212D: A high signal on throttle-position sensor 2 at bank 2

Learn how the P212D range check differs from a throttle-angle disagreement or actuator movement failure.

Documented application

2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part 2 monitor tables only; model, engine and transmission applicability are not established by the unresolved application-matrix filename join.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P212D identifies a high raw throttle-position input in the illustrated GM implementation. The table maps the generic circuit-G code to sensor 2 at bank 2. This mapping is specific to the documented control arrangement and does not establish a universal pedal or throttle connector location.

The high boundary is an electrical criterion

The source lists raw voltage above 4.805 V and a 0.14-second failure period. This evaluates whether the input lies inside its electrical operating range. A high signal is not automatically a reliable measurement of a wide-open throttle angle.

Drive and postdrive controller states are included, together with safety fuel-cut and limp-home qualifications. A voltage observation taken outside the enabled logic does not constitute a complete reproduction of the monitor.

What information remains trustworthy

Once this input has failed its range test, conclusions derived from its converted position require caution. A separate rationality diagnosis asks whether position channels and airflow-derived information agree; it should not be confused with this direct upper-limit check.

Useful evidence records sensor 2's raw value, the associated controller state and the other throttle-related diagnostic statuses. The next task is to establish the actual circuit identity and locate the electrical cause using applicable service information. The monitor does not distinguish a sensor defect from an unwanted supply connection or an internal measurement problem, nor does it prescribe replacing the throttle assembly from the code alone.
