The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P213B is cataloged as EGR throttle control circuit B range/performance. Mazda's SKYACTIV-D procedure specifically identifies the DC motor control system for the low-pressure EGR valve.

What high duty tells the controller

During feedback control, a valve duty of at least 90% for two seconds triggers the documented range/performance decision. Related motor-control, position-sensor and PCM-control faults must be absent. This is a high control-effort condition, not a direct measurement of excessive exhaust flow.

The fault list includes valve and PCM connections, a control circuit shorted to power or ground, the LP-EGR valve and the PCM. The procedure checks the connections and both short-circuit directions before evaluating the valve. High duty therefore does not establish mechanical sticking without the corresponding electrical and component evidence.

Several restrictions can follow one valve fault

Mazda restricts torque and maximum speed, inhibits DENOx/DESOx, compulsory DPF regeneration and EGR control, and inhibits i-stop. Those responses can create a broad set of unavailable functions from one initiating control issue.

Repair verification uses the specified key-on, engine-off self-test and checks for the same pending DTC. Do not use disabled regeneration as a reason to force a regeneration attempt before the EGR fault is addressed. Keep the LP-EGR assignment explicit; the generic circuit-B label alone does not identify this valve on every diesel engine.
