P2190: Bank 2 rich-at-idle evidence is a learned trim result, not a parts diagnosis

Understand the negative additive-trim logic behind GM P2190 and the source’s unresolved bank-reference detail.

Documented application

2025 GM 07A-1 documented monitor only. Vehicle, engine and controller calibration applicability must be established separately; no model fitment is inferred from the file.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P2190 identifies the rich-at-idle system condition on bank 2. The documented GM strategy looks at the additive portion of long-term fuel trim in gasoline operation. It does not identify a failed fuel component simply because the correction has reached the rich-direction boundary.

Distinguish additive trim from the rest of fuel control

The row reports a failure below −5.48 percent additive trim on bank 2. Additive adaptation must be active, with stable multiplicative adaptation and suitable operating conditions. The stability history exceeds ten seconds even though the final threshold evaluation is listed as 0.2 second.

A transient short-term trim or a combined correction parameter is not automatically the same quantity. Confirm the exact scan-data definition before applying the published boundary. The two-trip reporting also remains separate from the duration of one eligible comparison.

Preserve the source’s bank-reference limitation

The continuation includes a bank 1 additive-stability comparison inside the bank 2 monitor's enable logic. The document does not explain whether that is intended cross-bank validation or a label inconsistency, so it is not silently rewritten here.

Retain bank 2's additive value, adaptation state and stable operating history, together with the applicable controller definition. Those records support investigating the learned correction while leaving the source's unresolved enable term visible. Further service checks are necessary to determine a cause; the monitor summary does not justify a particular injector, sensor or fuel-system replacement.
