Documented application

2025 GM 25OBDG03A diagnostic monitor only; exact vehicle, engine and calibration applicability is not established.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P227E is an erratic-signal diagnosis for BARO C in the reviewed GM LIN-MAF system. It evaluates how much the reported pressure moves over time, rather than checking only whether an individual pressure lies between fixed upper and lower bounds.

Why a normal average can conceal this fault

The controller finds the absolute change between each BARO C reading and the reading 25 milliseconds earlier. It adds those changes across 40 readings. The resulting string-length metric fails above 100 kPa.

That 100-kPa value is accumulated movement. It is not the maximum permissible atmospheric pressure and not simply the difference between the first and last readings. Alternating upward and downward fluctuations can produce a large result while leaving the average apparently reasonable.

Observe the correct timescale

Each evaluated sample takes one second; four failing samples out of five are required. LIN communication with the MAF sensor must be established. Consequently, checking one stable-looking scan value or observing the wrong pressure channel does not test this criterion.

Use an appropriate recording method to assess the BARO C signal's stability and confirm that the reported parameter is mapped correctly. The monitor does not identify whether a noisy result originates in the transducer, associated electronics or another circuit condition.

Verification requires stable reporting through an enabled evaluation window and no returning fault. The source lists Type A, one-trip behavior and supplies neither a physical sensor location nor a universal wiring test for the C channel.
