Documented application

FCA bulletin 18-052-26 Rev. A, June 2026: North American 2026 Jeep Cherokee KM with 1.6 L EJN turbo hybrid engine, built December 15, 2025–April 24, 2026.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

The revised bulletin identifies false detection

P22D3-00 describes the turbo turbine inlet valve as stuck closed in this Cherokee application. The June revision specifically identifies false setting and adds a manufacturer calibration change for this diagnostic. That distinction matters before authorizing turbocharger or valve replacement. A stored code in this narrow software case does not by itself demonstrate mechanical sticking, but an actual drivability problem still requires assessment rather than dismissal as software.

Check the coordinated software package

The bulletin covers inspection and possible programming of four modules: battery-pack control, drive-motor inverter, electric-vehicle control and PCM. A repair confined to clearing P22D3 or checking only the PCM version can miss the documented package. Ask the workshop to record the VIN, production date and software levels of all four modules. The revision also mentions other warm-up, start and stop/start behavior; those are package-level improvements and should not all be attributed to the turbine valve.

Completion includes the prescribed sleep cycle

Programming follows the manufacturer order with supported battery voltage. The source warns that skipping the final sleep cycle can cause a shutdown warning and an engine that will not remain running. It also gives a technical-assistance recovery path for a battery-controller security-access failure; repeated owner attempts are not appropriate. After the workshop completes programming and the sleep cycle, it clears programming-related faults and verifies operation. Persistent symptoms or faults outside this bulletin need their own diagnosis rather than an assumption that the calibration explains everything.
