Documented application
2025 GM 25OBDG04B diagnostic parameter file; the cited monitor is documented, but individual vehicle, engine and calibration applicability has not been established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P233A is generically described as fuel pressure regulator C control circuit/open. This GM table identifies the monitored component more specifically as fuel metering unit valve 2. Confirm that naming in the vehicle's service information before assuming that regulator lettering names a particular installed part.
The open-circuit evidence
The controller looks for low current between the high-side and low-side drivers while they are on. The table associates that state with more than 200 kilohms between the valve's driver pins. This is an electrical continuity diagnosis, not a test that rail pressure reached its target.
Powertrain relay voltage must exceed 11 V, engine cranking must be false, and run/crank must be active. The row gives a 100 ms sample interval and Type A, one-trip reporting, but omits the failure-count numbers. An exact setting duration cannot be reconstructed from that incomplete counter.
What to check next
Retain the output command and open-load status to distinguish a disconnected electrical path from a connected valve with a separate hydraulic performance problem. Follow the vehicle-specific circuit procedure to identify the high-side and low-side connections. Do not apply a resistance test to an energized circuit or open high-pressure fuel plumbing on the strength of this code. Verification requires the qualified electrical monitor to accept the circuit again; a pressure reading alone is insufficient.
Source and application limits
This explanation covers the cited 2025 GM monitor. Confirm the vehicle and calibration in its service information before applying these limits; inclusion in this file does not establish model compatibility. GM diagnostic parameters, PDF page 816.
