P24C6: Particulate-sensor temperature circuit faults use electrical limits

Ford diesel P24C6 detects a temperature-signal circuit outside its voltage range, separately from temperature plausibility.

Documented application

Ford 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary, revised August 25, 2023; these are documented monitor examples, not confirmed fitment or universal thresholds for every vehicle carrying this generic code.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P24C6 identifies the particulate-matter sensor temperature circuit. In Ford’s diesel summary, the decisive observation is temperature-circuit voltage below 0.3 V or above 3 V. That is an electrical range check, not an assessment that the reported exhaust temperature is merely unexpected for the driving conditions.

The electrical check has its own enabling range

Ford lists continuous monitoring, a typical two-second duration, battery voltage between 11 and 16 V, and exhaust temperature from −39 to 800°C. These conditions define the documented check’s operating context; they do not provide a universal resistance curve or connector-level sensor test.

The same document assigns P24C7 to temperature plausibility, using modeled temperature and reference exhaust sensors. A value can be electrically within range yet fail a plausibility comparison, so those two code families should remain distinct.

What helps narrow the next question

Preserve whether the vehicle reports a circuit-range fault, a plausibility fault, or both. A reasonable-looking temperature in one later snapshot does not rule out an earlier intermittent electrical excursion. Conversely, an implausible temperature alone does not establish that the P24C6 voltage boundary was crossed.

The source does not distinguish sensor-element, wiring, supply, or controller causes. Nor does it give the correct pin identity for every vehicle. Use the applicable particulate-sensor service procedure to isolate the electrical problem before choosing a replacement part; the summary’s contribution is the particular monitored quantity and range.
