P2692: Cylinder-seven injector data is missing or fails validation

Ford diesel P2692 checks the injector correction code stored in memory rather than directly measuring injector spray or pressure.

Documented application

Ford 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary, revised August 25, 2023; these are documented monitor examples, not confirmed fitment or universal thresholds for every vehicle carrying this generic code.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P2692 identifies incompatible injector data for cylinder seven. Ford’s diesel summary explains that each injector has a stored code describing its deviation from a theoretical average injector. The controller needs that information to interpret the individual injector correctly; this monitor checks the validity of the stored data.

Three data problems can produce the result

The documented checks cover a missing code, a value outside the acceptable range, or an incorrect checksum. Monitoring is continuous, with a typical duration of 0.5 second. A checksum failure is an integrity problem in the data representation; it does not itself demonstrate a mechanically leaking injector.

P2693 applies the same validity checks to cylinder eight. The cylinder number identifies the record requiring attention, while the underlying validation method is shared across this injector-data family.

What should be established before hardware conclusions

A useful investigation confirms the engine’s cylinder assignment and whether the stored cylinder-seven identifier is present and accepted by the applicable control system. If work has recently involved injector data, preserve that history and compare it with the correct service requirements. This is a diagnostic direction based on the data check, not proof that any particular prior repair caused the code.

The summary does not publish a programming sequence, a valid replacement code, or a universal reinitialization method. Nor does it authorize copying another cylinder’s data. A successful mechanical running test alone cannot validate the missing, out-of-range, or checksum-invalid record that P2692 describes.

Source and applicability

This explanation follows Ford’s 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary. Match the vehicle’s engine and calibration before applying these monitor values; a generic code alone does not establish fitment. Ford PDF, page 17.
