P26BF: A cabin-heating valve high-circuit result needs electrical localization
Understand why Ford P26BF points to valve D output-circuit evidence rather than proving a coolant-temperature fault.

Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD summary, July 16, 2024 revision; only the described monitor and architecture. Model, engine and calibration fitment are not inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P26BF is Ford’s high control-circuit classification for the cabin-heating coolant bypass valve D. The summary calls it a short-to-battery condition and maps it to P26BD_12. This is an electrical direction of failure, not a report that the cabin or engine coolant is too hot.
Confirm the valve family before interpreting B or D labels
Ford’s D designation here means engine coolant cabin heating. Other bypass-valve letters in the same document correspond to radiator or transmission functions. The physical component must therefore be identified from the vehicle’s layout, not from a generic assumption about alphabetical order.
The monitor executes continuously, uses a five-second duration and relies on the smart driver’s output-fault indication. No direct coolant-flow or valve-position threshold is published for this entry.
Keep the driver report and mechanical behavior separate
Retain the exact code suffix and the commanded valve state. An apparent failure to move could coexist with the electrical fault, but movement alone does not localize the short-to-battery classification. Likewise, a later normal heating response does not reproduce the recorded electrical event.
The table supplies no universal voltage cutoff or harness pin for P26BF. A matching circuit procedure must determine whether the relevant path involves wiring, the connected load or driver electronics. The published evidence does not support replacing the heater core, coolant pump or entire valve assembly solely from the code label.
