Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD operation summary, July 16 2024 revision; only the cited monitor and transmission architectures. No individual vehicle fitment or universal calibration is inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P2770 is the torque-converter clutch short-to-power entry in Ford's architecture table, shown with P0740_12. It should remain distinct from P2758/P0740_7E, which describes functionally stuck-on behavior. One is an electrical classification; the other is a response to an off command.
Verify the electrical observation in its own context
The general converter-clutch electrical check compares output-driver feedback with commanded state. Ford gives a typical 1.5-second disagreement criterion. Its mechanical release check instead examines slip, torque and command conditions. Those are different evidence streams, even when both matter in the same fault investigation.
Circuit high is not a universal external voltage specification. The appropriate circuit design and command state are needed to interpret a connector reading; the summary does not provide that procedure.
Preserve the original failure type
Record the full module result, suffix and electrical status together with command history. Low slip at a later time cannot locate the earlier power-path classification. A failed release event likewise cannot identify whether the electrical condition originated in the load, wiring or driver.
The source gives no universal converter-clutch component location or replacement rule. The matching transmission's electrical procedure must resolve the reported path, while the functional stuck-on question remains separate if it is also present.
