P277E: Odd-side gear loss is detected while the clutch is not slipping
P277E combines neutral-like synchronizer speed evidence with low clutch slip to identify unexpected gear disengagement.

Documented application
2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part 2 documented monitor only; its application-matrix filename join is unresolved. No model, engine or universal calibration applicability is inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
In the cited dual-clutch transmission strategy, P277E identifies loss of the driving gear on the odd-clutch side. The controller sees speed evidence corresponding to neutral at the synchronizer even though the odd clutch itself is not slipping significantly. That combination helps separate a disengaged gear from a simple clutch-slip event.
Conditions that support the classification
Odd-clutch slip must be below 50 rpm. A driving gear must be selected, it must correspond to the odd shaft, and it must match the logical engaged gear. The synchronizer must not be busy shifting. The failure confirmation interval is one second.
These gates are important: speed disagreement during an intentional gear change is not automatically the unexpected-disengagement result described by this monitor.
Preserve the event sequence
Useful diagnostic evidence includes the commanded driving gear, logical gear, synchronizer speed interpretation and clutch slip at the same time. A later display showing neutral does not establish which condition occurred first. The monitor infers mechanical disengagement from the combined operating evidence; it does not identify a particular fork, synchronizer or hydraulic valve as the failed part. Follow the applicable transmission service procedure before choosing a repair or attempting further loaded operation.
