P283F: Rod-three intermittent diagnosis evaluates signal timing

P283F rejects a rod-three digital input outside its frequency band, with VREF2 context and an unresolved enable-limit issue.

Documented application

2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part 2 documented monitor only; its application-matrix filename join is unresolved. No model, engine or universal calibration applicability is inferred.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

The P283F row diagnoses the timing of rod-three position feedback. It gives a valid frequency band bounded by 1,500 Hz and 2,500 Hz, with an out-of-range condition evaluated over the listed 150 ms interval. The generic intermittent label therefore should not automatically be translated into a loose connector.

A plausible position can hide bad timing

Frequency is a property of the digital carrier. A scan tool may show a position value without exposing whether pulse timing is acceptable to the controller. Pulse presence alone also cannot establish that the signal stays within the specified band.

This channel belongs to the VREF2 group; P0652/P0653 and P0882/P0883 are listed as inhibits. The table’s VREF2 enable limits are contradictory, above 5.5 V and below 4.5 V, so their intended numerical window remains unresolved here.

Verification records the excursion

Keep the actual input frequency, duration and reference-supply diagnostic status. An ordinary continuity measurement cannot test this timing criterion. Use applicable vehicle service information to resolve the supply condition and permitted measurement method. The source supports a signal-quality classification, not a conclusive mechanical fork diagnosis or a universal sensor replacement.

Document scope and source

2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part 2 documented monitor only; its application-matrix filename join is unresolved. No model, engine or universal calibration applicability is inferred. These figures explain the cited controller logic, not a vehicle-specific repair instruction. Match the vehicle’s service information before applying them.
