Documented application

2025 GM 25OBDG03A diagnostic monitor only; exact vehicle, engine and calibration applicability is not established.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P2B09 evaluates cylinder 2 injection pulses while the reviewed GM catalyst-warm-up strategy is active. Its purpose is to detect commanded pulses without the expected injector pintle or armature movement signature.

Why a startup-only record matters

The diagnostic needs three conditions together: small-pulse general monitoring enabled, catalyst warm-up enabled, and fuel-pulse voltage-feedback data ready. Once warm-up ends, an otherwise similar cylinder 2 observation is no longer the same qualified test.

The row lists 50–100 cylinder-event samples. A short startup recording can therefore be incomplete, and elapsed seconds alone do not reveal whether enough eligible events were examined.

The signal is not a fuel-flow meter

Movement changes magnetic flux in the injector coil. The ECM observes the resulting voltage feedback across enable and command wires and converts it into opening magnitude. No detectable opening, or an opening metric failing the calibrated missing-pulse comparison, supplies the fault evidence.

The code does not independently establish how much fuel passed through the nozzle, whether its spray pattern was correct or why movement evidence was absent. Retain command and feedback information before attributing the result to a mechanically failed injector.

Verification should use the correct cylinder 2 mapping and confirm acceptable feedback through an eligible warm-up test. The source distinguishes this from the general cylinder 2 P2B01 monitor and lists Type B, two-trip behavior. It offers no component-location, hazardous probing or automatic replacement instruction.
