P2B34: A low intake-profile drive signal matters when the output is on

Understand why P2B34’s command state and supply eligibility are essential to interpreting the low-circuit result.

Documented application

2025 GM 25OBDG03B documented monitor only. Vehicle, engine and calibration applicability must be confirmed from the matching service information; no model fitment is inferred.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P2B34 identifies the intake profile-actuator circuit’s low electrical classification. In the GM row for intake actuator 2, the output driver is commanded on when voltage is evaluated. The low result is interpreted through controller-specific limits as a short toward ground, not as a low camshaft angle.

Do not separate the signal from the command

The table associates this classification with impedance below 0.5 Ω between the signal and controller ground. That is the diagnostic model’s limit; it does not provide a connector pinout or authorize resistance measurements on an energized circuit.

An off-state reading has a different meaning from the commanded-on condition described here. The relevant evidence must preserve the output command alongside its electrical response, particularly when the profile actuator is being switched intermittently.

Check qualification before judging the mechanism

The diagnostic needs system supply above 11 V and ignition in crank or run. Four failures among five samples produce the fault result. One-trip reporting does not mean every isolated low sample is a confirmed failure.

The generic actuator-B label and this document’s actuator-2 label require the vehicle’s actual mapping before hardware is identified. P2B34 does not establish that the profile pin is mechanically stuck or that the camshaft assembly requires replacement. It directs an electrical investigation once the correct circuit and operating state are known.
