The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
The generic P2C63 title refers to oxygen-sensor pumping-current trim circuit low. The cited GM strategy is more specific: it detects an oxygen signal below a physical minimum. The failing threshold is below −6.00% on the reported oxygen scale.
An implausible signal is not negative oxygen in the exhaust
A negative threshold here is a diagnostic boundary for the reported measurement. It should not be read as proof that the exhaust physically contains a negative oxygen concentration, or converted into a universal wire-voltage limit. The source identifies the input through the third NOx sensor's oxygen channel.
The sensor must be fully operative, the engine running and system voltage above 11 volts. The combustion mode must permit the test, and the sensor-invalid condition must not be present. The decision uses 100 failed observations out of 200 samples at a 25-millisecond interval.
Follow the signal's validity
First distinguish a validly received but out-of-range oxygen value from a sensor that is not ready or is already declared invalid. That changes whether this range test can run and whether the displayed number is meaningful. Capture the reported oxygen value and readiness together rather than use the generic circuit-low title as proof of a particular short.
Verification requires the fully operative third channel to remain within its physical-range bounds during an enabled combustion mode. The source provides no connector pin voltage, pumping-current bench test or automatic sensor-replacement instruction.
