P2D31: The intake tuning valve’s learned closed stop exceeds its accepted range

Understand P2D31’s closed-stop learning evidence while avoiding unusable temperature and threshold entries in the source.

Documented application

2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part 1 documented monitor only. Vehicle, engine and calibration applicability must be confirmed from the matching service information; no model fitment is inferred.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P2D31 evaluates the learned closed-stop feedback of intake manifold tuning valve 1. GM uses a calculated average feedback voltage at the closed stop, rather than simply declaring that the valve failed to move during an ordinary command. A moving valve can still learn an unacceptable endpoint.

Separate learning offset from a circuit fault

The published upper comparison is above 4.5 V for the averaged closed-stop value. The row also prints another comparison at 4.25 V whose equality wording is not sufficient to reconstruct a conventional lower-bound check confidently. That entry is not silently changed into a different operator here.

The continuation excludes relevant position-sensor and actuator circuit faults, including P2077, P2078, P2076 and P0660. Those prerequisites matter because a learned endpoint is only meaningful when its underlying feedback can be trusted.

Do not apply the printed temperature bounds physically

The source prints coolant-temperature limits of ±3,000°C. These are unusable as ordinary vehicle-temperature specifications and remain unresolved. They cannot justify a test condition or a claim of universal eligibility.

The row lists a one-second monitor interval and two-trip reporting. Useful evidence preserves the learned average, closed-stop event and relevant circuit status. The supported finding is a learning-range concern, not proof that the manifold or actuator needs replacement. Matching service information must resolve the ambiguous calibration entries before an exact relearn or repair procedure is selected.

Source and applicability

2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part 1 documented monitor only. Vehicle, engine and calibration applicability must be confirmed from the matching service information; no model fitment is inferred. These criteria explain controller logic, not a complete repair procedure. 25OBDG07A Part 1, PDF page 932. 25OBDG07A Part 1, PDF page 933.
