2018 F-150 P0300 and P0171: when injectors are actually implicated
Software and injector leakage follow different branches in Ford 20-2324.

The companion codes matter
P2196/P2198 or other codes specifically listed in Step 1 of 20-2324 lead first to PCM programming. P0300 or P0171 alone does not establish that software branch.
Build date gates the injector investigation

Ask for the actual pressure record
Editorial review point: an invoice saying “injectors because P0300” skips the finding that would justify that decision. Request the recorded pressure trace, the scan-tool units and the current workshop specification used to judge it. The public bulletin prints an inconsistent pressure-unit pair; it should not become a home-testing threshold. Ask the technician to resolve it against current service information.
A flashing lamp changes the urgency
Ford’s owner manual says flashing during engine operation can mean misfire and damaging exhaust temperatures. Avoid heavy acceleration or deceleration and obtain immediate service. The key-on readiness flashing sequence is a different indication.
Separate the two proposed repairs
Ask the estimate to identify which code triggered programming and which measured result justified fuel-system work. If both are proposed, each needs its own reason. Keep the original scan report with the invoice so a recurrence can be compared with the initial fault. These are editorial documentation requests, not extra Ford-mandated tests. Fuel-system work belongs with a qualified technician.
