2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee P0456: prove a filler-tube leak before replacement
A matching vehicle and code do not justify replacement without the specified leak finding.
Check the vehicle first.

- 2023 Grand Cherokee WL, 3.6L ERC, built through November 26, 2022; North America

Three findings control the repair
| Workshop result | Documented direction |
|---|---|
| Initial Small Leak Verification Test passes | Inspection-only completion; no filler replacement under this branch. |
| SLVT fails | Leak-test the EVAP system and inspect the vapor-recirculation tube at the bracket weld. |
| No leak found there | The bulletin ends without authorizing its replacement. |
| Leak confirmed | Replace the filler tube; repeat SLVT. |
| SLVT still fails after replacement | Continue diagnosis; the replacement has not resolved the test failure. |
The location matters as much as the code
Ask the technician to identify the failed weld-area location in a photo or inspection note. A test that proves the system leaks is different from evidence that this assembly leaks. That distinction is especially useful when an estimate lists several EVAP parts without explaining which one failed.
Make recent accessory work part of the history
Stellantis experience note S2325000006 separately describes damaged vapor-system components after accessory installation, including fastener contact and excessive drilling. It applies as a lead after a failed small-leak test, not proof of this Grand Cherokee defect. The note establishes no vehicle-specific conclusion; normal diagnosis continues if inspection finds nothing.
What counts as a useful completion record?
Ask for the first SLVT result, the confirmed location and the post-repair SLVT result on the invoice. If the last test still fails, the work should be described as an incomplete diagnosis rather than a successful repair with a stubborn warning light. Keep the evidence together if another workshop takes over.
The historical RSU expired after 18 months. Confirm current eligibility and charges separately; the technical bulletin does not guarantee free work.
