Ram / Vehicle-specific diagnosis
2019 Ram 1500 eTorque P0128: check the revision and all three modules
An old build cutoff or an incomplete controller update can leave the repair decision unresolved.
Check the vehicle first.

Do not reject the case using the old April cutoff
The earlier 18-009-19 revision B limited its application to trucks built through April 12, 2019. The intervening 18-058-20 superseded revision C, retained the 2019 ERG application and omitted that cutoff. The later reviewed 18-070-22 supersedes 18-058-20 and expands the listed markets. This history is a reason to inspect the revision attached to an estimate, not to claim every truck qualifies today.
What P0128 establishes—and what it does not
18-070-22 lists P0128 but requires related-system checks and correction of unlisted faults first. It supplies no thermostat-failure test. Ask which independent finding supports any proposed thermostat replacement.
Complete the controller checks
Ask for the final calibration identifiers on the work order. That gives a later repairer something more useful than the phrase 'computer updated'. Programming and hybrid-system work belong to a qualified workshop.
| Controller | Required completion in the reviewed bulletin |
|---|---|
| PCM | Applicable update. |
| HCP | Current applicable software. |
| TCM | Current applicable software. |
A companion P0456 changes the evidence needed
Companion P0456 requires wiTECH SLVT in the later bulletin. Ask how each fault was resolved.
If the warning returns
Bring the earlier invoice and the new scan together. Ask whether the same fault returned, whether the intended calibration was installed, and what independent test now supports the proposed next repair. Those questions distinguish a recurring complaint from a new one without prescribing an unsupported repeat flash or thermostat replacement.
